Canada opens its arms for students from all over the world. Moreover, Canada also wants the international students to stay in the country for longer period of time. International students are qualified for work while studying. So while studying in Canada, the students can opt for part time job for 20 hours in a week during the study period and 40 hours during the semester breaks. Usually, students opt for on-campus job option and once they complete 6 months then they apply for the Social Insurance Number (SIN) after which they can opt for off-campus work option. Earlier, international students could stay only for 90 days after graduation inorder to apply for the post graduate work permit but Canada has recently implemented few changes followed by which the international students can stay in the country for 3 years without any restriction. During the period, the international graduates with one year of managerial/technical experience are eligible to apply for the Canadian permanent residency status with the help of Canadian Experience Classification. To qualify for the Post Graduate Work Permit, international students are required to be a full time graduate from a public or private post-secondary educational institution. They must have submit an application for the work permit within 90 days of receiving a written confirmation from their educational institution that they have met the requirements and also should have a valid study permit. Moreover, inorder to secure a three year work permit, the program of study must be atleast of two years but if the program of study is less than two years but more than 8 months then the international graduate student can still opt for the work permit option. Once the international student holds a full time job then he/she can apply for the Permanent Resident status under the skilled worker program. Moreover, fresh graduates can also opt applying for provincial nominee program, Quebec immigration programs or Federal skilled worker program specially meant for PhD candidates.
